Chicago's favorite Colombian dance band is back for their yearly visit to Chicago.
Directly from New York City, Grupo Rebolu specializes in the
traditional sounds of the Carribean coast of Colombia. Founded by
childhood friends Moris Ca~nate and Ronald Polo, both of whom have toured the world playing Afro-Colombian folklore since childhood, Rebolu features original
compositions set to traditional rhythms with a completely original flavor and danceability. Rebolu does not limit itself to folklore
however. They are able to effortlessly incorporate other genres of
Colombian and Latin American music such as Vallenato, Salsa, and even
Calypso into their sound. The final result when Rebolú is firing on all
cylinders is a musical and cultural experience like absolutely no
other.

| When UpRoot Andy rolls out the names of rhythms, he savors them deliberately, like a hoodoo priest chews on a root: kuduro, bullerengue, cumbia.
And like a root doctor, its from the mixing of these ethnically
diverse musical styles that Andy Gillis draws power. Its a hoodoo hes
practiced as a DJ, as co-founder of New York Citys digi-global party
Que Bajo?!, and as a producer for the ZZK and Bersa Disco labels. And now, along with Que Bajo?! cohort Geko Jones, hes faced the most post-modern of DJ tasks: taking their global sounds to cumbias ancestral homeland.
His funky remixes of Afro-Colombian music has made him a common performer in many of Colombia's national festivals, including El Carnaval de Barranquilla, the country's biggest street party.

| CARPACHO AND HIS SUPER COMBO started in 1986 with the main idea of
integrating the band with musicians from various countries. The
objective was to demonstrate the typical sound of music of each Latin
American country. The band is succeeding to this end currently with
musicians from the United States, Puerto Rico, Ecuador, Costa Rica,
Mexico and a leader from Colombia.
They have played along with international orchestras and groups. For
example: Grupo Niche, Joe Arroyo, La Misma Gente, El Binomio de Oro, Grupo Gale, and
Jerry Galante. They have also performed with several bands based in
Puerto Rico like: El Gran Combo, Andy Montanez, Jose Feliciano, and Eddy
Santiago.
